RENE FARIAS

ROOM 31

I like to explore the human eroticism and break taboos and stereotypes. There is no better way to assert ideas than through art. Mermaids, minotaurs, fairies, snakes, butterflies; recurring elements in my work that serve to accentuate the contrast between masculine strength and the fragility and delicacy that nature and mythology offer us. I really hope you enjoy my little piece of the world. ReneFarias.com

KORY ALEXANDER

ROOM 36

Kory Alexander’s paintings are an extension of his natural curiosity. His work is suggestive rather than assertive, more evocative than exclamatory. He portrays scenarios that are rich with enigmatic ambiguity, and often depict a queer narrative.

The artist's paintings portray dream-like worlds that set open-ended, memory-like questions into motion. His pictorial iconography persuasively recruits the viewer’s ability, or desire, to complete the narrative. He formulates his landscapes with minimalistic color fields animated by romantic, expressive brushwork that is both refreshing and crucial to grounding Alexander's work in the field of contemporary realism.

Alexander received his bachelor’s degree in the Arts & Technology Program from the University of Texas at Dallas in 2014. He lives and works in Los Angeles, California.

THEO POLYMORPHOS

ROOM 37

An adept of the Orphic mysteries, Theo Polymorphos records ethereal visions on canvas, in an evocative bricolage of obscure myths reimagined and personal narratives amplified. Inspired by the countercultural spiritualities of the ancient Orphics and modern Romantics, Polymorphos celebrates his own initiatory journey through visions of a queer otherworld where the youthful protagonists of his paintings are transfigured through encounters with the more than human world of gods and spirits, flora and fauna, elements and luminaries.  Brimming with esoteric symbolism—from slithering serpents to glowing hearts—his work explores themes of ecstasy, initiation, and metamorphosis.
